Build your own assistive-tech Mac app with Claude Code
A developer with spinal muscular atrophy, who can't use a scroll wheel, used Claude Code with the GSD workflow to build Scroll My Mac: a free macOS app that scrolls any area by click-and-drag.
Try it yourself
What you get
A working, custom native Mac app that solves your own accessibility problem.
Tools
- Claude Code (Pro plan)
- GSD workflow (the author later warned against the version the author linked; see source)
Steps
- Describe the problem and answer the agent's clarifying questions.
- Work in phases (discuss, plan, execute, verify), keeping the state in markdown files.
- Build in milestones: settings window and shortcut, basic scrolling, then extras.
- Test each phase yourself and report issues back.
Copy-ready prompt
I want a small native macOS app that solves this accessibility problem: [describe]. Before writing code, ask me clarifying questions, then write a plan in PLAN.md with milestones. Build one milestone at a time, and after each one tell me exactly how to test it.
Watch out: The author later updated the post to warn against installing the GSD version the author had linked.
